I am facing problems in order to connect internet in fedora 10
As told by my friends i have tried the following methods to connect internet
in f10
Currently i have a BSNL dial up gsm gprs connection for internet. i have
failed trying to connect it by the following three ways :
after having been connecting my mobile phone using the data cable,
method 1:
Using the GUI : gonig through netwok connection icon on the top right corner
of the Gnome desktop
creating a mobile broadband connection with appropiate APN and number, no
connection is detected.
using terminal :
applying command --> /etc/init.d/NetworkManager restart as root user
, restarts the network manager but doesn't helps to establish any
connection.
no connection is shown by left click on the network connection icon.
method 2:
after being a root user and using the following commands / procedure :
#wvdialconf
shows that a usb modem is detected.
after that using
#vim /etc/wvdial.conf
on editng the file at points where ';' signs were there by removing them i
saved the file, with
phone no: *99***3#
user name:dj
password:dj
at specified points.
i have even tried by only givung the phone number and removing ';' for the
other two fields.
after this on using
#wvdial
shows trying to connect and many other things to give the primary and
secondry DNS numbers
on pasting the dns numbers in Network configuration dialouge box (got from
system>adminstration >network)
and hence on saving it shows an un handeled error as follows in a dialouge
box with 3 tabs "save file , debug , quit ":
