Tried Ed's suggestion and Stan's.
Tried to save a session by quitting (in settings, I had enabled
Show my windows and tabs from last time).
Restarted FF.
It only showed one window with my home page: google.com
running
ls $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/jd/session*
it displayed only
/home/jd/.mozilla/firefox/jd/sessionCheckpoints.json
I am starting to suspect some add-on :)
