My understanding is that any such cache would be in /tmp, which is
located on a ramdisk which means that it can't survive a reboot. It's
possible that there's some sort of "dirty bit" that's not being properly
cleared from the file, but I don't know enough about NTFS (I abandoned
Windows before I had to use it.) to say for sure. Next time this
happens, try booting into Windows, doing a proper reboot and see if that
clears this up. If so, we'll know where to look.
