How do I determine which partition /boot is in?

Three ways. First, you can look in /etc/fstab and see if it's listed there. Second, you can do the same with /etc/mtab. Third, you can use df -h which will not only tell you if there's a partition mounted at /boot, it will also tell you how much free space there is on it if it exists.
