Just about every board I've seen... It's for the clock, more than anything else. I've seen (old) systems that used a rechargeable battery, instead, but then you have some very expensive and hard to find battery to replace every few years, as opposed to an ordinary battery cell you can buy from anywhere for peanuts. Of course, you could forgo a battery-powered clock on a 24/7 server, but I've not seen that offered anywhere. I've got a battery-less NAS, and it powers-up with the wrong time, and logs everything incorrectly until the clock syncs up.
