Yes, I use NetworkManager.

I haven't tried reloding the module yet, I tried rebooting multiple times but that didn't help.

I use  different names for each SSID to have a clear idea what I am connecting to. I don't even really need 2.4Ghz because 5Ghz works perfectly I just want to get to the bottom of this.

I'll try Fedora 31 and change around the 2.4Ghz security settings to see if anything helps.

Best regards, cen

Are you using NetworkManager?

I got a brand new tp-link archer c6 and set up 2.4Ghz mixed ssid and 5Ghz ac/mixed ssid. I can connect to 5GHz just fine but 2.4GHz gives association timeout (see dmesg below). It just keeps asking for password every 20 seconds to infinity. This is the only 2.4 b/g/n ssid that I have trouble connecting with, ever. My android phone and 2 windows laptops can connect to this ssid just fine so there must be a very specific problem with my laptop/Fedora combo.

I have had issues with the Intel wifi on my laptop giving me a similar problem.  The way to fix it has usually been to unload the module and reload it.

Are you saying that there are multiple SSIDs on both frequencies? I have found that using the same SSID(s) on both works well. Devices that can do 5GHz will use that and no one has to think about which one to use.
