I just installed a system to test some things, and even though
I did not (knowingly) include any KDE stuff, I got thousands of
these packages (seemed like that many anyway :-).

You could try doing a "dnf erase" on some of the kf5 rpms and
see the huge list of dependencies they would take with them
(and answer "no" when it asks if that is OK, don't use the -y option
for sure).
