        Besides the Thpd's own monitor, I was connecting it through a 
TESmart 4-port HDMI KVM switch to my main monitor, an old 23" Dell flat 
panel whose model if any must be well-hidden.

        Adding 3 worked, whereupon, dammitall, I forgot to look for logs, 
and of course messed up some more.
