I had problems with USB mouse and keyboard on a new computer with USB3
ports (one of which is used for an external drive) next to the USB 2 ports
where the mouse and keyboard were connected. I've seen a number of
reports that USB3 radio-frequency interference (RFI) can affect legacy USB
devices as well as bluetooth and wifi. After moving them to an old USB
hub the problems stopped.
