(f34)

I'm using my old windows-7 box to do e-mail.

I did my weekly patches ("dnf upgrade") an hour ago.  After rebooting, after the rightmost rectangle turns white, I get the message "NVIDIA kernel module missing. Falling back to nouveau.". A few seconds later, the 3 rectangles turn orange.  Then the screens go black and nothing further happens.  I have to use the reset button on the top of the tower.  The behavior is the same no matter which of the 3 grub menu Fedora entries I choose.  No luck with the rescue mode (f30).  I do have an f31 live USB stick, but that has no e-mail client.

How do I get my f34 working properly?  All I have to work with is windows-7 (this is a dual-boot workstation) and the f31 live USB stick. Please keep in mind that I'm a "home user" with no sys.admin. training. My sys.admin. skills are *very* basic.

Ed's solution,
removing the old driver (dnf erase *nvidia*), then
installing the correct driver (dnf install akmod-nvidia-470xx)
worked.

The problem arose when my weekly patches updated the working driver with a newer one that does not support my NVIDIA Corporation GK106 [GeForce GTX 660] graphics card.

I thank Ed for his time and effort on this issue.

I've marked this thread "SOLVED".
