Might be a result of your
/etc/systemd/logind.conf

Default in that file seems to be:
HandleLidSwitchDocked=ignore

Have you tried to set this to:
HandleLidSwitchDocked=suspend

After changes you may need to logout/login, or simply reboot your
machine. If unsure, I'd reboot.

From man logind.conf(5):

"If the system is inserted in a docking station, or if more than one
display is connected, the action specified by HandleLidSwitchDocked=
occurs"
