Hi Patrick,

A recent experience makes me think it's (3). I'd replied to a post using an unsubscribed email address and got notified at that address the the post was awaiting moderation. That was the last I heard and the post never showed up on the list.

The content was obviously related to the thread but for whatever reason wasn't passed through.

I was happy that was the action (not?) taken because I didn't want that email address out in the wild, i.e. on a public mailing list, so this is a big shoutout and thank you to the moderators.
