Not sure when they began failing but the virtual
are no longer available.
$ systemctl status systemd-vconsole-setup
...
...: setfont: ERROR kdfontop.c:212 put_font_kdfontop: \
Unable to load such font with such kernel version
...: /usr/bin/setfont failed with a "system error" (EX_OSERR), ignoring.
...: Setting source virtual console failed, ignoring remaining ones.
/etc/vconsole.conf has only 2 lines, currently:
KEYMAP="us"
FONT="sun12x22.psfu"
I tried several fonts, with and without extensions, and eliminating
the FONT specification entirely. No success.
BTW the above entry matches a laptop running the same release Fedora 42
in which the vconsoles are active.
Any suggestions welcomed.
