You can install and enable it by going here:
https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/5/alternative-status-menu/
and switching it on.

It's obvious how to switch it on right?
(If it isn't to you, then I'll save you five minutes of searching
vainly for instructions and tell you the slider at the top left of
that page actually does something.)
