'xfce4-weather-plugin' is libweather.so[1] per se :)
Grasp the code from git[2], it should work.

After looking at the package git gives me, I find that I have no BUILD environment for fc18 yet, I'm doing laptops and desktops first. So at the moment I'll have to put this off for at least a few weeks. Many thanks for your help!
