Only somebody who is aware of the problem could answer that. You might want to do some trouble-shooting to figure out what has gone wrong. You may examine the "kernel" package scriptlets: rpm -q --scripts kernel You may run the commands found there in an attempt at reproducing the problem. Some are shell scripts.
