FYI, systemd has similar capabilities and packages have slowly been using them http://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd.timer.html So it is possible we might not ship cron by default in a future Fedora release. Users of course will be able to install it and use it just like they can use a MTA if they wanted to now. Rahul
