Hello,
The following program 'True' in IronPython and 'False' in CPython.

import pickle

data = {"msg":"Hello world"}
print isinstance(pickle.dumps(data), unicode)

Is that the intended behaviour?

Yes. pickle.dumps returns a string and in IronPython strings are unicode.
