This is definitely what you want to do but if for some reason you can't, you'll want to have copies of: /etc/opt/csw /opt/csw/ /var/opt/csw The reason to keep these, in addition to doing the manual pkgrm/pkgadd that Dago suggested is that it may make it easier to revert configs in the event that the update triggers a migration from /opt/csw/etc to /etc/opt/csw as it most surely will with the package set you listed. This is _way_ more work than using a boot environment though.
