Laurent;

I have one last question.
I have searched and looked for a way to test if the badlock exploit can be used against a system and I find nothing to check it.
All the recent exploits had web pages or scripts to test.

Does one exist for the samba problem?

This is for a SPARC server btw. ....

-rw-r--r--   1 root     bin          10K Apr 16 19:34

-r-xr-xr-x  21 root     bin         9.8K Jan 22  2005 /opt/csw/sbin/smbd
-r-xr-xr-x   1 root     root        9.8K Apr 18 06:33
/opt/csw/sbin/nmbd-3.6.14
-r-xr-xr-x   1 root     root        9.8K Apr 18 06:33
/opt/csw/sbin/smbd-3.6.14

So I presume the actual binaries are the ones in /opt/csw/sbin/sparcv9
Yep. Read isaexec(3C) for details. Basically, the stub picks the best
binary available according to your system specs. The stub is shared by
many packages, hence the many hardlinks and the old age.

I am sorry for all the questions ( I am in the fourth grader mind right
now ) AND many thanks for all the gracious and quick answers.
You're welcome, and lucky, it wasn't that hard to update :)

We are only as good as the problems we solve.
