8.1.7 SPARC's splash gives its data as 10/08/2009. Reader 8 on S8 is slow. S11 had desktop/pdf-viewer/evince the (then) Gnome PDF reader; same era (c) 2009 v2.30.0 that is much faster. Credit to them for keeping the ftp site, however they've purged the Solaris versions from the tree: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/unix/9.x/9.4.1 the version you mentioned, has been stripped to Linux packages only. ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/unix/8.x/8.1.7 in OpenCSW is the final 8.x version (and, again, they've now purged the archive down to Linux only). Back then, they wanted UKP 1,500 for "FrameMaker 8 - Unix version" Full vers. The installation guide for that is (C) 2007 on their 2016 uploads https://www.frameusers.com/uploads/2016/02/FM8_unix_install.pdf I think one can read into this that Adobe lost interest in SunOS/SPARC c. 2007-2009 so anything later from them (to run on S10+ SPARC) just doesn't exist.
