What Network model are you using when you create Virtual networks - Default, 802.1Q, ebtables, Open vSwitch etc?
Try Default first, then define the Bridge interface of your OpenNebula hosts such as br0 or br1. You should know already that the network interfaces of the hosts nodes of OpenNebula is bridged. On the virtual network, define your IP range of 192.168.42.x IPs. Assign this Virtual network to your VMs. (You may need to configure you VM to use this address).
