Then they are definitely not needed. I adapted a spec file I had found
probably 1.5 years ago to do what I want. I do not recall if it was a
RedHat/Fedora spec file or if it was someone else's. I have never
updated it to match the current Fedora spec file, I just left it alone
because it worked for my system.

I completely understand. Like I said originally, I felt my method was
very hackish and not necessarily the best way to do it for a public
