it's controlled by the property maven.repo.local.

If found this section of the user guide to be most helpful:
http://maven.apache.org/reference/user-guide.html#Behavioural%20Properties

the default value of maven.repo.local is defined near the bottom of the
table.

Subject: Dependency Jars

Hi Guys,

Where does maven store the dependency jars that it downloads for a
particular project. I have had maven successfully download dependency jars
from a maven repository and build my project jar after unit testing, but
can't find those jars on my local machine in the repository directory under
the maven installation dir.

Are they supposed to be somewhere else. Or How does this work ? Could find
an explanation on the website.

Thanks
