Just checked MAVEN_HOME/lib; it has ant-1.5.3.1.jar.

How recent is your CVS checkout of RC2? You'll need a clean bootstrap, as I
have rolled back from ant-1.6 in MAVEN_HOME/lib to ant-1.5.3-1, as 1.6 was
causing problems like this.
