Thanks. It seems like a lot of work to prevent something that IMO should be treated as an error by the dependency resolution, but at least I know there is something I can look into. All these different issues I'm finding with classifiers just makes me want to avoid them completely (like I was doing before). But the latest version of the assembly plugin forces me specify a classifier for the packages I create, so that's what got me started on all this...
