I am trying to explicitly override a transitive dependencies version, but
dosent seem to work.

I have this in my projects pom

   1.    <!-- use no-commons-logging -->
   2.     <dependency>
   3.         <groupId>commons-logging</groupId>
   4.         <artifactId>commons-logging</artifactId>
   5.         <version>99.0-does-not-exist</version>
   6.     </dependency>
   7.     <!-- no-commons-logging-api, if you need it -->
   8.     <dependency>
   9.         <groupId>commons-logging</groupId>
   10.         <artifactId>commons-logging-api</artifactId>
   11.         <version>99.0-does-not-exist</version>
   12.     </dependency>

But, the first one dosent seem to override the
transitive dependencies version. I am not sure why ?

PS:

A little more detail on what I am trying to do. Its on how to avoid commons
logging libraries in your projects.
