Your assumption was correct, but even this is the wrong mailing list.
The Maven plugin used in STS or Eclipse is M2Eclipse and they have
their own development and mailing list [1].

I know it is hard in the beginning to get the right mailing list.
Maven and the default plugins (all in group org.apache.maven.plugins)
use this list. The plugins at org.codehaus.mojo use the list at
codehaus [2]. All the other projects and plugins have (or haven't)
their own communication channels.

I don't know which issue you ran into, sorry.
