If you're on Mac OS X < 10.7, then you have to live with the JDK Apple is providing: - Java 5 for 10.5.x (*) - Java 6 for 10.6.x (*) I'm not sure, but I guess I have seen some Java 6 versions also for 10.5, but only for 64-bit machines.
