sserver support in Maven 1.0.2

Hi,
 
Could you please tell me if Maven 1.0.2 supports the CVS sserver protocol?
I am using the freepository.com CVS and would like to access my repository
which uses the sserver protocol.
 
If there is a way to get sserver to work with Maven 1.0.2 could you please
tell me what I need to do or direct me to a reference.
