Hello Michal The main difference is that while the hibernate3-maven-plugin is based on hibernate-tools (http://www.hibernate.org/hib_docs/tools/reference/en/html/ant.html) and can do more tasks like create a database schema base in your POJOs or generate a database documentation (kind of javadoc) also based in your POJOS
