I used Maven 1 when I "had to" - when other projects used Maven 1. I have never attempted nor desired to use maven 1 to manage my projects. We used ant instead.

Now I am moving ant-based projects to M2. M2 is something I will be using for all new project work. M2 does everything I used ant for, and in many less line with more features.

I may be totally off, but it seems like M1 is kinda dead. Maven 1.1 beta 2
was released half a year ago. Given that, I think there really is no choice
but to upgrade to Maven 2 (sooner or later).

We've just started moving some stuff that was on Ant to M2, but I wish M2
was a little more mature. I'm sure we will transition fully to M2
eventually.
