What are you trying to do here? It looks like you're trying to install a file called 'repository' What you probably want to do is install the activation.jar file. Try: mvn install:install-file -Dfile=activation.jar -DgroupId=javax.activation -DartifactId=activation -Dversion=1.1 -DgeneratePom=true
