Hi,

Can you please add [ANN] to 3rd party announcements so that they don't
get confused with the questions?

Thanks!

Hi all,

i just want to announce that Proximity RC2 (in preparation) just got richer
with a FTPRemotePeer, thus, it is able to proxy FTP remote repositories (eg.
ftp://repo1.maven.org/pub/packages/maven2). To enable it, look at
applicationContext.xml file provided with RC2, it is fully configured but
commented out! Current FTPRemotePeer is pretty simple but make Proximity
able to connect to a given FTP host using configured username+password.
Since "under the hud" Commons Net FTPClient is used, for FTP proxy settings
see
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=jakarta-commons-user&m=107877944806547&w=2for
proxy settings.

Currently, RC2 also holds a lot of bugfixes from release RC1, the (fairly
complete) list of fixed issues (
http://intranet.is-micro.hu/trac/ismicro-proximity/query?status=closed&milestone=Proximity+Release+1.0.0-RC2
):

Too Many Files Open (Large repositories)
NTLM HTTP Proxy is supported by Px Core
Have "offline" switch to make Px to behave offline (to not reach remote peers)
Proximity throws NPE's in case of lack of Indexer (ability to
completely remove indexer component)
Jetty deploy gives broken document link
Implement FTP remote peer

If interested, please download the unreleased RC2 from here:
http://proximity.abstracthorizon.org/deploy/nightly/
and test it.

Thanx in advance, and
Have fun!
