About Maven docs, the mail list has discussed. It's said that some plugin docs are being improved, but not hosted by main site currently. Now, I think the biggest problem is that docs don't show all parameters or elements on POM model or plugin configurations. For example, parameter warSourceExcludes exist in maven-war-plugin configuration really, but I don't find it at the plugin's site http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-war-plugin/war-mojo.html.
