I wrote this email a long, long time ago. ;-) Since then, I have found out that there certainly is a real "super pom" which is in one of the Maven jars... forget which one, but you can find it if you search the Maven jars. But you shouldn't extract the file, edit, and add it back to the jar; instead just write your configuration etc in your own local project pom.xml file.
