Hello, There seem to be a number of JIRA issues that may be manifestations of the same problem- properties not being interpolated in the POM during install:install to the local repository. I am a new maven user, so perhaps I am misunderstanding something fundamental, but I think that pom files installed into the local repo should have all properties expanded; is this not the case?
The mailing list suggests that this started in 2.0.3. I still see the problem in the 2.0.7 built from svn source. Here are the issues that may be related: POM interpolation problem in maven-2.0.3: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-2186 Variables are not replaced into installed pom file: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-2971 properties not expanded in generated POMs when building A/B/C nested projects: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-3057 building from the middle pom of a (parent, child, grandchild) heirarchy fails: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-2619 global variable filtering of pom.xml for parent and sub module pom.xml files is not working when deploying to a repository: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-2412 It's also been mentioned on the mailing list a few times. I think this is an important issue and would appreciate it if someone could clarify the expected behavior, and suggest a potential fix or workaround. I'm happy to work with anyone who would like to explore this.
