Hey I am not sure about maven but for ant project I have configured JDK1.4 for building just go to administration ->> installations ->> add TOOL you can add JDK<version of your choice> You can visit http://maven.apache.org/continuum/docs/1.1/administrator_guides/jdk.html for further details
