Jens- *if this is happening at deploy* then a best guess would be that the jspc (jasper compiler) phase is failing http://mojo.codehaus.org/jspc/jspc-maven-plugin/usage.html can you force the jasper-compiler to execute and compile the jsp pages BEFORE deployment any diags such as stacktraces from the logs would be most helpful
