The two issues (notification and use of mmssend) seem unrelated. It
would seem the crash is due to a problem in mmssend: Please let me know
how you are running it, and also if you could, run mmsmobilesender in
gdb and send a backtrace when it crashes.

Yes, the solution is to have an intermediary script. That script
should
return a 200 HTTP response code for Mbuni to know that it was
successful. Keep in mind that Mbuni keeps sending notifications (with
exponential back-off) until the recipient fetches or defers the
message, or the message expires.
