First of all, a status : Vysper is currently dormant. Now, what does that mean, and why is it dormant ? A dormant project is a project that has no contributor. Like any project, teh code does not magically appears, and when the initial contributors move to another thing, then the project remain orphan. That's life, tehre is nobody to be blamed for that. Now, can it be revived ? Yes, of course. We just need contributors. I would stress out one simple fact : this is a community, and *everyone* is very welcome to contribute. Being a lurker is ok, but participating is way better. Sadly, it seems that most of the people who decide to use an open source component are just users, they never contribute back. Again, that's fine when the project is alive and kicking, but it's not when the number of contributors is low. What about ejabberd ? It seems it's a good project but : - first it's licensed under a contaminating GPL 2 license. If it's OK for you to have yru own code being moved to GPL2, fine. Otherwise, you may have a legal problem. - second, and more important : it's backed by a private company. The day it's bought, or the day it goes bankerupt, you are at the very same point : alone with the code. So, guys, don't just be lurkers ! It's easy to be part of the project !
