Does anybody have experience with the use of streaming video and mmbase?
Any pointers to documentation or experience is appreciated.
The idea is to create an object which refers to the actual audio/video. These media objects know were to find the actual audio/video and can be related to other mmbase objects. In this way you can e.g. easily make music categories, relate music to the corresponding group, make play lists, create broadcast channels, etc.
The current audio/video implementation in MMBase is bad. That's why we initiated the media project. A new object structure has been made, and as Michiel said, you can find these objects by checking out the cvs speeltuin module. The new object model should allow you to modulate audio/video. And in time, hopefully, things like automatic recording stuff will be added to cvs... As you already would guess, things are still work in progress, but probably already more mature than the classes you find in de mmbase distribution.
