Not quite sure, but is there a dll missing, which is needed for the functionality of the xml? http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/webtechnology/xml/msxml.asp could help.
When this is the case, there should be a check inside the javascript, so that the automatic proedure is started when this is missing (would be something like: <OBJECT CLS-ID="asdsasad" CODEBASE="asdsad")
