One thing I found:

MS Internet Explorer takes the 't' off the .'tgz' extension when you specify the file name to save as. If you don't notice (like me), the file will have an extension of .gz. Consequently, Winzip doesn't handle it correctlty.

If this happens, just rename the file; giving it a .tgz exension and everything is OK.

You mean as opposed to tar.gz?  The .tar.gz is just a unix thing.
Most zip utilities for Windows can handle it (WinAce and RAR both do.)
Eventually we should probably consider supporting .zip though.
