I think it would be a nice feature too. I'd like to see layout done
more like swing where you can setup the application and swap out content
in specific panels without having to put an include on every single page.

One of the primary benefits of SiteMesh is that it's NOT tied to any
other page building technology. IMHO, it really really *should not* be
implemented in JSF.
