However for facelets usually you need special IDE that supports them (IBM Websphere does not supports facelets). For Clay you don't because all java web IDE supports jsp

I've got no experience with Clay either. But Facelets does provide much more then just templating (so may Clay). Getting rid of JSPs is a good start anyway.
