The operative word here is "could". If you explain to them what the ramifications of their choices are and they still make bad decisions, then you must decide if their business is worth your trouble and charge them accordingly. The point is that way too many times these bad choices are more a function of poor communication than merely inane business decisions. IME, lots of 'mom-n-pop' shops will make the right choice when presented with all of the information (even some gov't departments have!). Make sure that all of the stakeholders know what the issues are before giving in to inertia.
