Hi all,

The PPMC vote on the release of Apache NetBeans (incubating) 9.0 has
started on the dev mailing list, which means that we have a candidate ready
for the final release:

https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/c4b51a9518e064affb312e33c5c7df9a7f908d0d6e663938d505798c@%3Cdev.netbeans.apache.org%3E

What is PPMC and what is this vote about and why is it on the dev mailing
list? Read this:

https://incubator.apache.org/guides/ppmc.html

The PPMC vote is about the sources of Apache NetBeans, not the binary. The
binary is what most users are probably interested in, not the sources.
However, you're welcome to join the dev mailing list and vote on the
sources, i.e., after building them, trying them out, verifying licenses,
etc.

However, a Community Acceptance Survey will be done from next week which
will be focused on the binary, i.e., on getting people to try it out, code
in Apache NetBeans, identify problems, prioritize them, etc, and decide
whether the binary is ready to be released.

The point of this mail though is to invite everyone who wants to from the
users mailing list to join the developers mailing list to cast their vote
on whether the sources are ready to be released -- and also to provide an
update on the current status.

Thanks all,

Gj
