We tend to do much more with OpenShift than k8s directly but I think you'll find the Fabric8 Docker maven plugin very helpful if you're not already using it. https://dmp.fabric8.io/
This mavenized Docker build approach works nicely with NetBeans in my opinion. You'll find some cool stuff there for k8s as well.
