Depends whether the previous installation was somewhere the IDE could install modules inside itself though! That might just affect the JS parser but it can lead to lots of errors about missing dependencies. It's fixable, but unless you've been doing lots of work with a beta(?!) it's better to clear out the userdir and cache and start again. For some reason the dialog about disabling modules missing dependencies consistently crashed GNOME entirely for me!
